Steamboat Springs — Strings Music Festival kicks off its holiday concerts tonight when Grammy award-winning fiddler Eileen Ivers takes the stage with her band, Immigrant Soul.

Ivers, known for her modern take on traditional Irish music, will be in the spirit of the season. She plans to invite the Steamboat Chamber Singers on stage for some traditional holiday carols.

“Since Eileen Ivers and Immi­grant Soul first performed at Strings in 2003, she has remained one of the festival’s favorite artists,” said Betse Grassby, Strings’ non-classical programming director. “We are very excited to present her Irish Christmas show, with the added bonus of Steamboat’s own Steamboat Chamber Singers joining her on stage.”

The concert starts at 7 p.m. at Strings Music Pavilion, at Pine Grove and Mount Werner roads. Tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for children 6 to 18.

Ivers has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony and the Boston Pops. She also performed in “Riverdance” and has recorded more than 80 contemporary and traditional albums.

Immigrant Soul includes Tommy McDonnell on lead vocals and percussion; Buddy Connolly on accordion, whistles and keyboard; Greg Anderson on guitar and vocals; and Leo Traversa on bass.

Strings Music Festival’s two days of holiday concerts wraps up Wednesday with two holiday family performances by Peter Davidson. The shows, which feature juggling, dancing and audience participation, are at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the pavilion. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
