Take a lttle ska, a cup of reggae and a dash of blues. Place this mixture in a bowl full of jazz and bake on high. The result is an 11 track serving of David Hillyard and the Rocksteady 7. Hillyard, who is no stranger to the island sounds, teams up with some fellow horn players to make a fairly daring crossover. The combination of more classic ska and roots with American jazz might not have worked for listeners of eithr vein. Instead Hillyard brings an offering that should entice them all.
