UTICA- The Mohawk Valley Community College Humanities Department will kick off its Fall Cultural Series Friday with a musical performance by ska, reggae, jazz and Latin musician Dave Hillyard and his band the Rocksteady 7.

  The concert will take place at 8 p.m. in the theater in the college’s Information Technology building on the Utica campus.

  Tenor and soprano player Dave Hillyard has just released his debut CD “ Playtime” for Hellcat Records. Well-known musician and sideman in the groups he has founded and contributed to, including The Slackers, Rancid, Hepcat, the Donkey Show, Stubborn All-Stars and others, this is his first solo release as a leader.

  Admission to the concert is $4 for the public and $2 with valid MVCC identification.
