This is the debut-release of the renowned Brazilian percussionist, programmer, and producer known as Ramiro Musotto. His merging of Afro, Brazilian percussion, and electronica is not just unique it is downright inspiring. This entire album is filled with intrigue whether it be about the origins of “Xavantes” which was inspired by a warrior tribe that resisted European colonizers or the Afro-Brazilian cult of Candomble which have ritual calls for spirits to enter the body and induce a trance-like state. He also plays the berimbau, which is a percussion bow that is traditionally used in capoeira, a Brazilian martial art. The live track that features this instrument is unbelievable and shows what a crazy performer he must be live. If you’re looking for anything truly unique than this is your bag. 12/19/03 >> go there
