Times (Acadiana's Weekly Newspaper), Generous Geno: Delafose spreads his French Rockin' Boogie around liberally on a new CD >>
Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie:
Everybody's Dancin (Times Square) -- Back when he had Boozoo Chavis and Beau Jocque for competition, Geno Delafose seemed almost stubbornly ordinary. Now, the competition all but gone, he seems stubbornly good, with gimmick-free grooves that pack more kick and new-and-improved background harmonies providing more cushion for the pushin'. The two-steps and waltzes legitimize the disc's title; "Zydeco with Geno" followed by "Good Time Woman" should be a jukebox single; and Sam Cooke's "Wonderful World" and David Ball's "What Do You Want with His Love" go where few Creole-accordion cover songs have gone before. Rating: four freedom rockin' boogies out of five. 05/28/03 >> go there
