Pasadena Weekly, CD Review >>
The title's a good tip to the grooving feel of this reggae-vibed collection (in stores Tuesday), but Berry, who spent a decade living and working before returning to the States, has more than booty-shaking on his mind. Not unlike his reggae inspirations, he preaches universal tolerance and peace in his horn-accented, rhythmically engaging music. Songs like "Why Do We" ( kill people who kill people/ To show people that killing people is wrong?) and the anti-racism anthem "Rock It Down"("It's the heart that makes us human/ One race, human") are emblematic of the disc as a whole. But Berry's heartfelt pleas would feel more real if delivered with some of hero Bob Marley's rough grit.
