Honolulu Advisor, Grammy nominee kicks off tour >>
Ladysmith Black Mambazo, a vocal ensemble from South Africa, launches a three-island, five-show tour at 7:30 tonight at McKay Auditorium on the Brigham Young University-Hawai'i campus in La'ie. Led by founder Joseph Shabalala, the all-male ensemble — up for two Grammy Awards this year, for its "Raise Your Spirit Higher" CD — is known for its church-like harmonies and call-and-response style. Tickets: $15, at (877) 750-4400 or www.ticketmaster.com.
Ladysmith also performs tomorrow at Leeward Community College, Saturday at Kahilu Theatre in Waimea, Sunday at the University of Hawai'i-Hilo and Tuesday at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Details in tomorrow's TGIF section. 01/28/05 >> go there
