Cuban Essentials is a ten-volume series of Cuban music from 1965 to 1993 with titles from such artists as Ibrahim Ferrer, Omara Portuondo, Chucho Valdes, Ruben Gonzalez, Benny More, Irakere, Juan Formell y Los Van Van, Eliades Ochoa, Compay Segundo and the diverse best of sampler CD, Guantanamera. Escondida Music has unearthed these artists' best songs from underexposed, historic treasure trove of Cuban recording giant EGREM, whose library emerged in the art deco jukebox days of the 1940s and rode the wave of the mambo and cha-cha boom of the 1950s. With 7000 master recordings, this “Motown of Cuba" is the most extensive collection recorded on the island, going back 60 years.
