April 15th, 2010 → 11:45 pm @ PJ
Back in the day when listening to reggae there was Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, King Yellow Man and not forgetting the Ghananian reggae artist Rocky Dawuni [those where days].
Rocky Dawuni has come along way in bringing his spiritual, love and social conscious reggae afrique soul fusion and established himself as a formidable force for social change in Ghana as:
Creator and headliner of his annual music festival Rocky Dawuni Independence Splash held every March 6th in his native Ghana which is produced by his NGO Africa Live! The annual event in Ghana attracts upwards of 30,000 people every year and has become the rallying point for his extensive humanitarian and advocacy work on clean water, HIV AIDS, poverty eradication and girl child education issues. Besides the above Rocky has garnered critical acclaim and a wider audience with the albums Book of Changes, Awakening and Crusade. Building on we see the release of his 4th album entitled “Hymns for the Rebel Soul” – a musical exploration in global consciousness stateside 25th May not sure of a UK date.
From “Hymns for the Rebel Soul” a fine laid back number “African Reggae Fever“. Have a butcher’s and let be known.
