Sub Pop isn't exactly the first label that comes to mind with thinking of World Music, but apparently the sounds of singer/songwriter Aurelio were strong enough to transcend international boundaries and secure a place for his album Laru Beya on the famed Seattle label. Aurelio, a recent protege of Youssou N'Dour, brings the Afro-Caribbean musical traditions of his Garifuna heritage to a global audience on Laru Beya, which incorporates not only the African and Latin flavors of his background, but pop and rock sensibilities as well.
