Aurelio plays Garifuna music. Descendents of slaves and Native Americans who rebelled against the European invaders in 1763, the Garifuna have their own language, culture and musical traditions. Aurelio composes Garifuna music based on traditional rhythms and styles, creating music that nods to Jamaica, Cuba and West Africa.
