AURELIO, Laru Beya (Sub Pop/Next Ambiance/Stonetree): (4 stars out of 5)

Dedicated to the late Andy Palacio, who introduced Garifuna music to global audiences, Garifuna guitarist Aurelio Martinez represents the resilient communities still clinging to the coast between Belize and Nicaragua with this spirit-boosting album that’s a rhythmic delight from first track to last. Aurelio addresses loss, AIDS orphans, marginalized migrants and crooked politicos, but the overall mood’s a passionate embrace of life. Palacio’s memory’s invoked on “Wamada,” one of two tracks featuring mentor Youssou N’Dour. Aurelio plays Getty Center in LA Saturday and Sunday. stonetreerecords.com
