On Sunday, January 11th New York City witnessed the eight-annual globalFEST concert, thirteen acts from fourteen countries representing just about every genre of music imaginable. It's the biggest annual world music event in the United States, and this years line-up was by far the strongest. This years artists included big bands like Columbia's LA-33 and Brazil's Orquestra Contemporânea de Olinda and Haiti's RAM; as well as smaller, more intimate acts such as Kaumakaiwa Kanaka'ole and the French-Malian collaboration between Ballaké Sissoko and Vincent Segal. Nat Geo Music was there and our friend photographer Derek Beres captured all the magic and mayhem in this photo gallery.
