Since New York City has been the epicenter for klezmer and rap, Solomon & Socalled’s HipHopKhasene (Piranha 1789; 54:54; ***) eventually had to happen.  Violinist Solomon and DJ Socalled bring together electronic samples, freestyle MCs, and such renowned klezmer musicians as Frank Londosn and clarinetist David Krakauer.  It’s basically a modern musical comedy based on a Jewish wedding.  Sapoznik may recoil, but for the most part, the disc is funnier than Krusty the Clown has been on this season’s The Simpsons.
