Toledo City Paper, CD review >>
Darko Rundek & Cargo Orkestar "Ruke": This is an odd little production. Rundek hails from Yugoslavia, and takes us on a trip from deep in the bowels of a cargo ship. The liner notes ask the listener to "Imagine you're on a big old ship; a little bull's eye is the only connection to the outer world. From far away you seem to hear some tunes." The sounds of the ocean and a big ol' ship link each tune -- this is not your everyday slab of world music, by any means. Nevertheless, Rundek's unique perspective is worthy of a spin on your player. There seems to be a connection to his sound and the band on the Titanic, but I'd be surprised if Rundek would go down with the ship. 10/07/04
