Alif Naaba In Concert: GlobalFEST 2010
January 19, 2010 - When Alif Naaba opened GlobalFEST 2010 at New York City's Webster Hall on Jan. 10, his was a welcoming voice — warm and friendly. His spirit was infectious and the music made the crowd at Webster Hall smile and sing along, and that was after only a few minutes of hearing "The Barefoot Prince" perform.
Naaba is from Burkina Faso, where his distinctly West African sound was forged. Singing in his native language and also in French, Naaba covers topics concerning his country and Africa as a whole, with an earnestness that captivated the crowd. This performance marked his American debut — and a successful one, at that.
